Marcus Newton is an artist and photographer living in Binghamton, New York. He has a deep interest in a nuanced wilderness: one that grows between the cracks in sidewalks and along the contours of civilization. Using photography and other image-making techniques he engages the visual language of the built and natural environments. He keeps a short list of favorite bogs in his area and builds custom naturalistic vivariums. He has also been skateboarding for 20 years.
Marcus earned a Bachelors of Arts from Brevard College (NC) and his MFA in Photography from The Savannah College of Art and Design (GA). He currently works as the Photography Specialist/Digital Media Technician at SUNY Binghamton where he also teaches.
